Tish Sera Josep
As the Student Welfare Ambassador, I spearheaded a valuable initiative that reinforced sex-positive education at my school, empowering students aged 16-18 with critical knowledge on mental health, relationships, LGBTQ+ inclusion, STIs, reproductive health, and contraception. This initiative provided students with a safe and open space to gain a deeper understanding of sexual education, pushing past the uncomfortable idea of discussing the topic and instead encouraging open and informative discourse. Its impact included shaping a more informed, confident, and responsible student body. Now, as Student Council President, I remain deeply committed to education and youth-driven initiatives, believing that informed students become empowered leaders who drive change within their schools and communities.

Beatrice Sharpe, a senior council member of CVYC and a passionate youth climate activist, takes the initiative of reigniting Vancouver Island’s climate movement into her own hands and organized a protest to fight for our future. The protest took place outside of the B.C legislature in September 2024, attracting around 150 people of all ages and spotlighting the importance of prioritizing climate action in government decision making. By taking a stand and advocating for what she believes in, Beatrice has reignited more than just the climate movement, she’s given a voice to youth who’ve been silenced and embodied everything a CVYC member should.
We could not be more proud of her, go Beatrice!
