Lucy
President
I was honored to become part of the CVYC team in July 2024. As someone who has always been passionate about bringing a change to the world, CVYC became the perfect opportunity for me to take action and raise awareness on important issues such as climate change, mental health and education in the local community. As a teenager, I don’t want to just observe the world’s problem–I want to be part of the solution. I am the marketing lead at CVYC where I help advocate and promote our team and all the great things we do through various media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, and our official website.
George
Vice-President
I joined the council in January of 2024 as it is an amazing way to get involved in the community. As a council member I regularly attend meetings and try to help out wherever I can. My favourite sessions are when a team of city planners came to get feedback on the city's official community plan. This was a good experience as it greatly helped with a project I was doing at the time. It also gave the sense that our opinions were being heard, which can be a rarity among youth groups. Overall I am very thankful for CVYC!

I joined CVYC recently in March 2025 in order to cultivate personal and community growth by being a changemaker in Victoria. As a new member I am excited to make a difference on important issues such as supporting the community during the nationwide financial crisis that has led many into tough times. Although I am starting out as a council member I am eager to join other sections of the council where I can contribute with creativity and leadership. I can’t wait to make new connections, acquaint myself with like-minded peers and gain experience!

Treasurer
I joined the CVYC in October 2024 because it provides hands-on experience in civic engagement, policy discussions, and community leadership. As someone who is extremely passionate about social issues and youth leadership advocacy, I am also a part of various leadership councils across Victoria; my role and hopes in CVYC is to be able to collaborate and connect like minded peers and leaders, and to work on initiatives that involve youth perspective and influence on decisions on issues that are significantly impactful towards youth. CVYC gives young leaders a seat at the table, ensuring that youth voices are heard in decisions that affect us–I feel so profoundly grateful and proud for the opportunities that CVYC brings, as well as the impactful work we do to aid and improve our community.

I joined CVYC in June 2024, as a council member. I heard about the opportunity to learn more about the community in a fun, positive, and safe environment. While also being able to gain volunteer experiences. Currently, as a highschool student I realised I lacked the knowledge of being involved in my community. I believe CVYC will be a great stepping stool in improving my communication and leadership skills. While I’ll be able to be more educated on topics that interests me, I’ll also be able to contribute my thoughts and what I’m passionate about such as inclusivity, creating more accessibility for people with disabilities, and encouraging for more youths voices into our community

I recently joined the youth council in February 2025. I have been looking for ways to contribute to the Victoria youth community and had heard about the youth council from a friend. I heard about all the activities she had done and decided to join the council as it seemed like the exact opportunity I was looking for. As a council member of CVYC I took part in various events such as the coldest night of the year walk, mural paintings sessions, and I plan on participating in more activities that will make a difference to our community.

I joined the council in December of 2024, and it has been a kind and welcoming space that has allowed me to collaborate and work with many like-minded youth in Victoria. My specific interests include lobbying for social change/equality, emphasizing the impacts of socio-economic disparities, and raising awareness regarding geo-political matters. As an individual who highly values youth involvement in these matters, I greatly enjoyed meeting and discussing with people capable of making real changes within the Victoria community. As an example, we recently met with individuals involved in improving and taking data regarding the improvement of local communities within Victoria. Whether it may be through flagging certain intersections or missing crosswalks, or even endorsing community clubs or social gatherings, this meeting really demonstrated the kind of voice CVYC gives to the youth of the city and how we can utilize that to further development.

I joined CVYC this summer to connect with the Victoria community and share ideas! With my passions lying in sports, service, and team initiatives, CVYC allows me to open up and hear all kinds of perspectives while providing so many different opportunities for me to comfortably express my passions. On the other hand, I am also given opportunities to express my concerns or potential improvements that I would like to see in Victoria. Whether that be through discussing community topics with experts to contributing to our newest mural, I love being able to work within the community I have grown up in to create meaningful change. In the future, I hope to meet and contribute to more communities across Victoria and give back to them as much as they are to us.
Manon
Recruitment Led
Hello! I’m Manon and I learnt about CYVC through my older brother, who I had always seen doing fun, volunteer experiences. As such, I joined the council in 2024, and have been loving it ever since. I love the atmosphere between the members, and how there is a real desire to make an impact in our community. I am very involved in various sports, whether it is through coaching or playing. Therefore, this love of activity combined with my previous positive knowledge of the council led me to join as I wanted to create an initiative involving sports access for youth. Currently I am on the interview team and working on other current projects, including painting a community mural. In all, this council has been a fantastic experience of self growth for me and I love how I can give back to my community in ways that are meaningful to me!

I'm Alicia and I joined CVYC in June 2025 because I wanted to continue making a meaningful impact in my community alongside other passionate youth. One of the most meaningful experiences so far was helping with our food drive. I really valued the chance to connect with community members and be part of something that supported others. Before CVYC, I led the Vital Youth program at my school, which sparked my interest in youth advocacy and showed me how powerful youth-led initiatives can be. I'm excited to keep learning, collaborating, and using my voice to support change through CVYC.

Andrea
Council Member
I joined CVYC in April 2024 and as a person who always enjoys helping others and changing the world in a positive yet effective way, CVYC was an excellent opportunity. Being a part of the CVYC has been a wonderful experience as I have met people who carry the same ideas as me and others who open my mind to different perspectives. During my time at CVYC I have attended meetings at City Hall to talk about our beautiful city, I have also talked with many others about certain topics in our community and how to fix them, baked cookies for a bake sale, and have attended a workshop on how to help those who are having an overdose. Being a member of this council has helped me to remember that everyone's ideas matter. In the future I hope to find ways to make learning about mental health a bigger thing and find ways to help the elderly and others who are in need.

I’m in grade 12, attending Victoria High School. I joined the council in August 2024 to get involved with the community by wanting to make a meaningful impact. The commission has brought me many unique opportunities to be involved. Which allowed me to express my leadership skills and dedication to community service. I enjoy just coming to the meetings, but I enjoyed attending the budget meeting at city hall because I got to interact with the council in my community. It felt like my voice was taken seriously, and all my ideas were being noted. Overall, I am thankful that I’m a part of CVYC.
